Coyotes & Badgers
Coyotes & Badgers
Coyotes and badgers are sometimes seen hunting squirrels together. It is known that coyotes catch more in collaboration, but badgers hunt below grounds and so it is harder to see how much they gain from collaboration. In this research for Non-Human Cognition, Melle Lefferts and I investigated if we could determine to what extend badgers profit from hunting together with coyotes. We researched: What are the best values for the hunting rate of badgers and resilience of badgers and coyotes to create a balanced ecosystem of coyotes, badgers, and squirrels in NetLogo and what does this imply for the unknown variables in the wild? The posters shows our research.
