Perceive it! Believe it?
Do you sometimes question your perception? You should! Luckily there is one thing you can know for sure: you can trust us.

Can we make people trust us over their own perception? Together with Vitor Jacob Rodrigues de Senna and Melle Lefferts, we explored this question for our course Science to Experience. We created a website were visitors were asked to view two videos and "test their perception" by describing the differences they noticed. However, there were no differences.
But because we presented ourselves as authorities on perception (on the website, in the video, and sitting in front of the visitor as a teacher before a classroom), we managed to confuse visitors such that they started to list differences they thought were there.
Only after rewaching both videos and thinking about the differences, an option will pop-up on the website asking "Wait... Were the videos the same?" followed by an explanation of our project.
With this website we wanted to raise awareness on the trustworthiness of your perception and on the influence of others on your perception.
